IRAN, Pahlavis. Reza Shah, AH 1304-1320 / AD 1925-1941. Military Order of Zolfaghar (Ḏu’l-faqār) (Gilt Silver and Enamel, 50 mm, 31.44 g, 12 h), 3rd Class. By Arthus-Bertrand, Paris, after 1925. Radiant and white, red and golden enameled five-pointed star, set on two sabres crossed in saltire; veiled half-length figure of Ali ibn Abi Talib drawing the Dhū l-faqār ('double bladed sword' in Persian) on central medaillon. Rev. 'Reshadat' ('valor' in Persian) on central medaillon. With hallmarked suspension loop and on original light blue and black striped ribbon with rosette. An extremely rare and high quality example of the second oldest and the highest honour of Imperial Iran. A small enamel chip on the reverse medaillon, otherwise, extremely fine.
